The LIP Destinations site is the sister-site to the Location Independent Living blog.

As location independent professionals, we have unique requirements when we travel and often want to know things which you can’t find in guidebooks.

Things like:

• The availability of short- and medium-term furnished accommodation and where to find it.
• The nuts & bolts of internet and wireless internet access and how stable and available it really is.
• The best areas to stay if you’re living there for one or more months.
• How to get around if you’re staying for a longer period of time.

We realised that the hours and hours we spend trawling the web to find out information about where to go and where to stay could be put to good use (aside from using the information ourselves!) by sharing it with others.

And that the experiences we have and things we find out when we visit each place are likely to be useful to others who may be considering coming there.

So this blog is a place to share all of that - it’s an evolving beast - and hopefully, with your help, will be kept as up-to-date as possible.

If you would like to add/edit any information you find about a destination on this blog, please leave a comment on the relevant destination guide.

We will do our best to fact check the information and once it’s approved, the information will be updated in the post.

Why This Is Different From A Travel Guide

The information on this site is written from experience. Unlike many guidebooks, where the author does a whistle-stop tour of as many places as possible, the information on this site is written and compiled by people who have lived in that destination for one or more months as LIPs.

Whilst we try and include some of the basics you might want to know, we also focus on some of the more relevant information that people who travel permanently and prefer to “live” in a destination (rather than just visit) would need to know.

Why We’re Sharing This Information For Free

Honestly? We did think about how we could sell the information in an ebook or a membership site but in the end decided to share it for free because we’d far rather let others use it than have it sitting redundant on our hard drives (or in our brains) until we figure out how best to make money from it.

That said, you might notice a “Donate” button on the blog and a few more adverts on this site than you’ll find on the Location Independent Living blog.
